OUR MISSION

ReachAcross is dedicated to a vision to see Muslims become devoted followers of Jesus Christ through self-sustaining and reproducing fellowships. And we seek to realize this vision through our mission to:

       1. Share the Gospel with Muslims

       2. Serve them in practical ways

       3. Disciple them to follow Jesus

OUR HISTORY

Before there was ReachAcross there was Dr. Lionel Gurney. Gurney was a medical doctor trying to follow God’s call on his life in the late 1940s, just after WWII.

A friend challenged Gurney to consider going to the Afar tribe in Ethiopia, and relishing a challenge, he went.

The step out his door to Ethiopia would lead the doctor to realize that very few Christians went to live and witness amongst Muslims.

“They’re too difficult!” people would tell him. 

However, after spending time in East Africa and the Middle East, Dr. Gurney knew God’s call for him was to the Muslim people.

In 1952, Dr. Gurney helped form a small team that would later flourish to become ReachAcross. Since its formation, ReachAcross has continued to cultivate a passion for loving Muslims for Jesus’ sake wherever they may be found, from the far reaches of North Africa and the Middle East, to our own backyards in the West. 

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe in One God, eternally co-existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who created all things and sustains them by His power and mercy.
We believe in the person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ, His deity and true humanity, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious death and atonement through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His present ministry of intercession and His personal return in power and glory.
We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit by whose illumination, conviction and regeneration men are brought to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, and His work of sanctification whereby the Christian and the Church are enabled to worship, witness and minister, and live a godly victorious life.
We believe in the Old and New Testaments, inerrant in all their parts as originally given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, as the supreme and all-sufficient rule of faith and conduct: the Word of God with full Divine authority.
We believe in the fall of man and the consequent sinfulness, guilt, and condemnation of all men, the free and perfect justification of all who believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, and their regeneration by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the bodily resurrection and the final judgment of all mankind, the eternal perfection and blessedness of the saved and the eternal punishment of the lost.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all true believers in our Lord Jesus Christ who comprise His body, the Church, irrespective of denomination.
We believe the supreme mission of the Church which is to glorify Jesus Christ and to be His witness to every part of the world.
